Chapter 4 Excerpt
“Come on guys.” She said, “I don’t have to listen to this.” Caleb (a) and I immediately stood up. Ian (b) tried to keep her put by standing in her face. They argued for a moment longer, but Mom seemed to decide she had enough.
She walked away.
We trailed behind her. I watched him as we left; he stood there, silent. The look on his face said we would pay for this later.
We all entered the elevator and the doors closed behind us. Mom stood in the corner, distressed, as silent tears fell down her cheek. Her sad appearance brought immense guilt over me for I knew this was entirely my fault.
“I’m sorry Mom.” I apologized for the mess I just caused.
“It’s okay.” She smiled looking up at me as tears were still filling her eyes, “It’s not your fault.”
She let out a large sighed, “He hasn’t changed.”
